Golden Richard, Ph.D.
Golden G. Richard III has been involved with computers for over 25 years. He holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of New Orleans and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the The Ohio State University. He is a GIAC-certified digital forensics investigator.
His research interests are in mobile computing, distributed computing and computer security. He is the author of over 25 refereed publications, including 2 books for McGraw-Hill. His first book, Service and Device Discovery: Protocols and Programming, was published in 2002 and was the first comprehensive treatment of service discovery technologies, which are very relevant for building dynamic client server systems. His second book, Fundamentals of Mobile and Pervasive Computing, was co-authored with Frank Adelstein, Sandeep Gupta, and Loren Schwiebert. This book covers the field at a level appropriate for a graduate course in mobile computing.
Golden has worked on a variety of mobile computing projects, including designing and building prototype wireless display devices, designing wireless LAN layout schemes for Navy ships, and designing handheld solutions for on-the-spot digital forensics investigation. He has worked on a number of software development projects on both Palm and Windows CE-based devices.
